What a day it has been. Left home this morning with about 8 pipping. Went and had Laser surgery on my eyes this afternoon and then arrved home to 6 babies. We now have 9. 5 light sussex, 1 light sussex x australorp which looks different to al lthe others of this cross that I have hatched as its got yellow on its face, and 3 bantams from Wendy, 2 yellow and 1 black/yellow. The bantams are so cute and i am really hoping that the dark ones turns out to be a girl and blue. Not really sure how it will turn out. Still about 8 pipping and more to come.

WOW! how exciting and your new peepers got to see these lovely babies. At least you had something to do during the hatching time as hatching can seem to take ages. I would love to see some photos. Cheers Linda

Will get some photo's today, have to go back for a checkup this morning. I had 12 more hatch over night but one has a crooked beak, only 1 eye and a really fat unfeathered tummy. :(I will have to get rid of it but don't know how to. Of course Jim left to go back to work this morning.

I managed to do it but it wasn't a nice feeling. I suppose these things happen though and you have to get used to it if your going to have babies.

Here they are, we ended up with 4 bantam pekins, 3 light sussex/black australorp and 15 light sussex. Will be advertising the light sussex's. The 4 pekins from Wendy's eggs. My favourite, lighter of the 2 darks ones, almost bluish. The other dark pekin. The light sussex/black australorp which has a yellow face, different to all the others of this cross I have hatched. Will be keeping her (hopefully) to see how she turns out. The rest of them.

hi Shea! They are so adorable I think the 2 dark Pekins are going to be cuckoo because of the light spot on their head. the yellow chicks are from my white Pekins. Im disappointed you didnt get such a good hatch rate with my eggs though. I would gladly give you some more eggs when fertility picks up a bit. Cheers, Wendy

Thats alright Wendy. I had 3 that were infertile, 2 had blood rings (think thats what there called, and 3 seemed to stop developing after I first candled them at about 9 days. As long as I get 2 girls I will be happy. I knew the yellow ones would be white but wasn't sure about the other colours. Thanks. I still have 1 cheeping in the shell and there is no pippng yet. 9 hatched Tuesday, 12 Tuesday night and 1 Wednesday. This one is way behind. Will it be ok or do you think it mught be having problems?

Hi Shea, I would leave it longer and see what happens. It might have just been in a cooler spot in the incubator or something What day were the eggs actually due? I hope you get a couple of girls from the Pekins. I cant wait to see how they develop. Cheers, Wendy
