Well, as I only have 6 eggs growing out of the 30 recieved a few weeks ago, I got a dozen d'uccle eggs from farmstock classifieds today. Also, got some from a lady advertising on BYP. They sent them on Monday and much to my surprise, they got here this morning!! I really wasnt expecting them till tomorrow or Friday as they came from QLD and VIC. They were express though, so thats good. I thought the ducks would be finished their hatching by the time I recieved them, but Ive popped them in anyway, so hopefully the higher humidity at the moment wont hurt them. Guess we'll see. As always, i'll keep you posted! Wendy

Hehe see wendy, its addictive this breeding poultry. You'll probably have half a dozen breeds before you know it. You think you're content with the breeds you've got but then you see piccies of another breed and its like oohhh I want! lol Definately an addiction

Thats good Judy, my sister is bringing me lots in a couple of weeks to sell for her. Wonder what colours she has. I know one of her girls has middle toe feathering that is almost obscene there is that much of it.

Well, now Im off to get ANOTHER dozen would you believe!! Got to drive over to Boyanup this morning. A lady brought them down from Perth for me. And theres another dozen due to turn up in the post on Wednesday from Perth This two dozen are both Pekin bantams. I worked out I have spent approx $230 on eggs so far and I have 5 ducklings to show for it so far. All the eggs, except the ducks, have been sent from the east so I expected I wouldnt get alot. I guess I'll persevere till I get some chooks for my backyard!! Wish me luck for the hatch on Wednesday

Good luck for your hatch on Wednesday, it can be really frustrating trying to get the different breeds, I would have spent a similar amount of fertile eggs this year too, and all I ended up with were 5 buff sussex of dubious quality, but it is a start, and some hamburgs as the breeders were supposed to have had red eyes, which mine don't, and guess what, of the one's that hatched, not one red eyed chick, but every now and then you do have a win. Yesterday I picked up some white Orpington chicks, Mums and dad, were great quality, that was a pinnacle for me as I had been searching for them for the last 3 1/2 years. so keep your chin up and keep trying, you will eventually succeed.

Good luck for Wednesday wendy I've spent about $180 on fertile eggs this season, the first dozen being a total failure but we'll see what I end up with in the next 2-3 weeks. You must've been so thrilled to finally find those white orp chicks after searching for so long horses7

I've spent $142 on 3 dozen eggs this season, so far I have 4 from the first dozen alive. 8 alive from the second dozen and the last dozen are still in the incubator of which 11 still going with one quitter. I have been very fortunate with the eggs I have incubated having quite a high success rate. I am selling off the ones I don't want to keep. Good luck with your hatch
