What did everyone do for their easter weekend? We went camping. It was fun and a much needed break. We camped in Frankland but spent the days in Denmark. It was the first time we really looked around in Denmark. It is a really nice place with beautiful places to visit. Will certainly go there again.

Are you getting enough rain up your way? It was very dry in Frankland. The last time we were there at the same time of year, it was green. This time round it was so dry they have to feed the livestock. An hour south, in Denmark, it is so green and thick with grass. It is quite amazing what 100km makes to the weather. It rained a bit while we were there. We took credit for bringing the rain, .

No we haven't had any rain since January , the average break to the season is the 19 of May up our way , at the rate I am going I won't be ready . I have been feeding hay no grain out yet but the ewes will be starting lambing in two weeks so need to start soon.

Looks like you'll be very busy in the coming weeks with lambs and cropping. Are you running your dad's farm as well?

Rain at last! We have 3mm so far and it is still raining. Plough the land with the scarifier this afternoon. I'm going to grow some lupins this year. They are supposed to add nitrogen to the ground.

we have had a total for 3 days of 52 mm was not expecting that much , now I really have to get my scates on. with lupins you need to put inoculum on the seed for them to produce nitrogen just in case no one has told you , but yes they are good and good feed for your sheep.

What is inoculom? Didn't know I have to do anything to the seeds. We got about 30mm of rain yesterday. Not much today. Good to smell wet ground this morning. We are anxiously waiting for one of the ewes to lamb. Hopefully the rain will not be a problem for the lamb.

It is the rhyzome that makes the noduals on the lupin plant roots to get the nitrogen out of the air you can get it in a couple of forms now. the ewe should be OK if she is in good condition

Are you almost ready to start seeding? Quite a few farmers in York have already seeded. My hay supplier prepared his land last week, waiting for rain before seeding. With the rain over the weekend, I guess he is now busy seeding.
The ewe is in good condition. I don't think she will feel the cold nights. I am more concern about the lamb if born during the cold nights. Might freeze to death. Have your ewes lambed yet? Mine are all over the place this year. I am thinking of separating Rammy from the ewes this year until January. That way the ewes will lamb at around the same time next year. I'll have him with 2 wethers for company in the smaller paddock in front of the shearing shed. I just hope that he will not jump the fence like he did before. He walks with a slight limp from his injury 2 years ago. So that may stop him jumping.
