Got a call from the neighbour last night. The ewe lambed and died. The lambs survived and were wandering around on their own. So I drove to York with Chooky jnr. to rescue them. Got there just in time to take one of them from the foxes. He has a few bite wounds on his neck, skin deep and was bleeding. The other one was fine, just wandering around in the dark. We brought both of them back to Perth. Spray Dettol disinfectant on the wounds and covered the wound with antiseptic. He is not in a good shape at the moment. I think he might still be in shock. I am hoping that infections have not set in. He has been sleeping almost the whole time and drank a bit of milk. The healthy one is doing well. He drank a lot of milk and is now sleeping in the sun enjoying the warmth.

Update: The wounded lamb died. The other one seems to be doing well. Drinking lots of milk. He shivers a lot. He is in the laundry room at the moment after spending the day outside. I am hope being indoors will keep him warm enough. I don't think they got a chance to get any colostrum from mum. I have my fingers crossed that he will be fine and grow into a nice wether.

CK,
Sadly, he passed away last night. He was doing fine the day before and then just went down hill really fast yesterday.
Not sure what happened to mum, but mostly like it is age. She was 9 years old.
When you bottlefeed the lambs, do they still produce dark pelletised poos? This one was producing soft yellow colour poos. So my guess is that he had gastro.
