Reset the trap last night. The crows are back again this morning. Hopefully I'll get another one. I need to get rid of them before the chicks go outdoors.

Trev,
I'll know tomorrow when I head to York. I am hopeful that the population is slightly lower than last weekend.

Candled the eggs last night. One of the eggs that I thought stopped development at day 7 seem to have developed some more. So I left it in. It may continue to hatch. Wouldn't that be a surprise. The rest are doing well. Looks like 18 at this stage.

How is your frightened hen chooky ,it has taken about 4 weeks and lots of rescue remedy to settle down the girl that the fox attacked . She is back laying again now . I'm glad as she I one of 2 buff Orpington's that I had left .Hopefully when the broody starts to lay again I can get some buff Orpington eggs from Goldfinger and the 2 girls.

My frightened hen is still nuts. She is still very anxious. The crows coming into the pen everyday is not making it easier for her.

All the baits in York were taken, hopefully by either a fox or dog. I scanned the property with a torch last night for the fox eyes but saw nothing. Does this mean I managed to get the few visiting foxes? I hope so. I didn't get a chance to place some more baits today. Spent most of the day sorting out fly blown sheep. The flies are bad this year. Sorted out 3 ewes today. Two were quite serious and one minor. They were very glad and a lot happier after we were through with them. The poor things. Hopefully we got to them just in time. One of the ewes lambed during the week. The lambs are fine and strong.
Put out a few fly traps to hopefully help them out lowering the fly load on the property.

we they breech or body struck ? I had about 30 when I did the crutching with breech 1 lamb was body struck . genrally when baiting you keep putting them out till they stop been taken , foxes will take them before the dogs do.

These 3 were breech struck. One from the afterbirth being stuck to her wool. The lambs are only a few days old, so I guess her wound is a few days old too. She was quite happy to let us do what needed to be done. The second ewe was a year old. She had worms again and had scoured on her wool. Her wound would be about a week old. It was quite badly infected too. I doubt if she felt anything we went over her with the clippers. He skin had turned black in colour. It was quite clear that she felt a whole lot better when it was all done. She went out actively looking for food when released. The third one was very minor. We crutched her a couple months back because she was very dirty. I guess we didn't do a good enough job. She had poo stuck to her again and there were a small number of very young maggots. I don't think she was feeling them yet. She was not happy to be shorn so closely again.
I also wormed all of them again. Do you do a follow up worming after 14 days like in chooks? I didn't do that last time.
