HI Jacquie Glad to see your still around , Sorry to hear about your Dad, hope he is on the mend. There should be a great showing of wild flowers this year with the rain they have had up north, we again are on the quite side not a lot of rain but a few of the flowers seem to stick there heads up for a look, but the wild orchids are few and far between this year. I am on the look out for a few eggs from Silver Dorkin if you know anyone with them. I seem to remember someone on the site letting us know that they had just got hold of a few, i wonder what happened to them. I ended up in the hospital system yet again this time i got knocked around a bit and i seem to take a bit longer to recover each time. I am back at it and feeling great again, time to get the veggie garden up and going. I wonder what happened to all the others from the good times on this site Trev

It's been quiet here alright, I have my last batch in the incubator for this year with a few breeds in my first hatch was all marans had trouble with crooked feet and legs so upped the minerals and protein next lot hatched all good . entered some chooks at my local show and won champion male with a blue australorp from annie yolkie's eggs. ;D apart from dealing with dry season worms in sheep then fly's from the dags and a few elbow back hip and knee minor injury's all is going fine.

HI Cannakid good to catch up annie yolkie's chooks, she dose breed some good ones elbow hip back and knees oh the joys of farming. I have had a lucky break this year not one of the sheep had fly strike how lucky is that, congrats on the champion male good one . I have just started to stick eggs in the bator I have 4 broody hens so i loaded them up first I need to expand my welsummer stock my Roo is getting on but he still seems to do the job, but I will need a replacement and another one or two for the expansion just love them my first lot are now 4 and 5 years old still laying and breeding I find them just incredible i wonder how long they will last. I would think this year in the heat will get a few of them so i need to act fast the site dose seem to be quieter than normal everyone must be flat out Trev

My old barnevelder girls still lays in spring they are near 8 years old the rest of the year get fat. but still have good fertility . I candled the eggs thismorning and only took out 6 clear couple that are iffy but have left in so still have 80 in the incubator. I am sure you will get a good replacement this year for your wellsummers I could have stuck some in but already have too many breeds.

Hi cannakid thanks for that. I have contacted them, they will have some in two week time there cost is $50.00 for 8 eggs posted. I am going to get hold of 16 eggs if they have them, hopefully this will give me a good start in the line. I should have done this a long time ago I have always wanted to get some rear breeds but never got around to it. This is the year to do so thanks again for the help Trev

Thats OK , all the rare breeds I have are in high numbers now, I managed to get a few marans pullets to hatch this year and have 2 hens that lay a good coloured egg. didn't get any RIR to hatch though the hen isn't laying well.

Hi Trev, yes I am still around but do not have much chook news to report. Hopefully in 13 days I will have some babies and hopefully some are girls. We have decided just to have about 4-6 that we will rotate around the vegie patch. I have gone for purebreeds but a mix of them so they all look nice tending to my vegie patch Currently only have 1 pekin (survivor from the fox attack) and a borrowed silkie to keep her company. The eggs are a mix from kattscluckers. Black, blue or splash australorp, rhode island red, buff cochin and araucana x. Bloosy crow took 1 of them. I will have to cover the coop before the babies hatch. Shea

HI Shea I hate the crows there verry smart for a bird I wish you luck with them I have cut back a lot this year just got hold of some Silver Grey Dorking eggs they will hatch out by the end of the month got them from Chook loop great service from the guys Cathy & Dave More than you can say for Australian post that’s another story all I have left now is RIR, Buff Sussex, white Sussex, speckled Sussex, Welsummers, Indian game and soon the Grey Dorking and least but never last my little Silkies I gave away a few silkies last year to a young girl that wanted to get started into Chickens she put them into the show this year and got first prize on both of them good on her that will give her a bit of a lift so this year I have just given her one Rooster and 4 hens from my White Sussex see how she goes next year Trev
