My eggs have started to hatch today due tomorrow the posted eggs have started first surprisingly. I don't like them crows either but there is plenty of bugs out the paddocks to keep them full for the moment.

That's a real bummer , how big is your block I only know vaguely where you are, foxes can be a real problem I do a lot of shoting baiting and traping here but the people in Suberbia and the out skirts aren't allowed.

Hi Jacque Glad to see that you’re still with us Do you have a dog if so get it to pee around the chook pens this will deter the fox for a while I am ok I have set up an electric fence all around the pens So I no longer get that problem it was worth the money we also shoot all the time but you will never end all the problems with them and then you have to deal with the wild cat problem It’s a bugger to loose chooks I hate the foxes as I have posted before I think last year we shot around the 300 mark and I still get a few looking for a free feed if you can afford it buy a fence system you will get a good nights sleep Good luck Trev

What kind of electric did you use? was it the special poultry one or run a series of hot wires?

Hi cannakid just an 7 km agricultural one and its never let me down had it now for 6 years going all night every night from 7 until 7 you do hear the odd yelp at night when a fox sticks its nose on the wire I use one wire around the chook pens about 300/400 above the ground and the rest of the series of hot wires it goes around the paddocks it works well i have two earth spikes in the ground gives it a larger poke Trev
