I have been off line for a few weeks and just read your post. I feel for you Brendan. I didn't know that a mineral deficiencey could cause such major problems with so many birds at them same time....I have been using a mineral suplement for some time. I will check the bottle and let you know. the one I have is a water solubale one. good luck with the rest of your birds. cheers carolyn

Its quite amazing how that deficiency of minerals can affect stock isnt it? I never realised that it could be a real life and death situation. When I think about some of the people (teens) I know who eat nothing but rubbish, its a good thing it doesnt affect humans quite the same quick way. Then again, we might have a chance at getting our kids to eat their veges!!

The problem with the deficiency is that in this case because of the weakness created by the deficiency -the oxygen transport to the heart muscle is severely restricted causing failure after even the mildest shock or excitement .All birds have a very sensitive nervous system .Birds generally can easily die of shock and a mineral deficiency exaggerates this condition.Hopefully we can turn it around.
