I have another chick looking sad and sorry for itself. Experience has been once they get like this they haven't got long to live but this one has been looking poorly for several days. Most of the time it sits hunched up, peeping. Occasionally it moves around and pecks under its wing or scratches itself with a foot. Haven't seen it eat or drink although I have put ffod and water right in front of it. In the past I have put them out of their misery when they get like this but with this one I have a feeling it might make it. Wonder if I am being cruel or kind?

Its a hard one isnt it Mike. I must say I'm a big softie and cant cull a sick chick so I just do what I can for it and sometimes they make it, sometimes they dont. Have you tried some electrolytes in the water? Could it be cocci? Have you got some sulphaquin? Maybe you could give it some just incase it is cocci.

The chick died last night. I went out late and found it alone in a corner of the pen so I put it under the mother but it was dead this morning. Now I feel guilty that I didn't put it out of its misery days ago.
