Hi guys, Im posting this to let you know I will be away for a while. I had some bad bad news today. My dad went in for an op today and the prognosis is bad. They have given him a few days to a week. Im finding it hard to know where to start to get organised so Im taking this time on the computer to get my head together a bit after being completely stressed all aro trying to sort stuff out before I leave. Im a bit nervous about leaving Alan to look after my eggs in the bator but he will be ok as long as he keeps the temp ok. As for the hatch, well thats another story Alright gotta go now because Im starting again Take care and have a happy new year

Morning guys, well I spoke with Dad on the phone last night and he calmed me right down. Hes very calm and collected about it. Thats Dad for you. My brother was the one that told him the news when he came out of his anaesthetic. Dad told me that it wouldnt be "days" like my sister told me yesterday arvo, it will be a few weeks hopefully. So thats a little better I suppose. So this morning I will be packing and going to Denmark to be there for the next few days. I will come home Monday all going well and be here for the hatch!! Then all of us will go down indefinately. My boss was very good and told me to take as much time as I need. I have a very good friend up the road who will take care of all the animals and she will take home the chickens that hatch and look after them for me till we come home. She has raised day olds recently so Im confident all will be fine. Well, better go and start doing something, got nothign done as far as packing or anything yesterday. Cheers, Wendy

Hey Wendy, Having gone through a similar situation myself recently I can totally emphathise with what your are feeling at the moment. Just know that there are people around you that do really care. Family is important. Take the time to say the things you need to say, and that icludes 'I love you Dad'. I truly hope that your Dad is comfortable and being looked after. Best wishes from me and mine.

Thanks everyone. It has been a blessing to have this time with Dad to tell him everything he means to us and just be with him. We have talked laughed, and of course, cried bucketloads. he is pleased we are all there for him. Gotta go xxx Wendy

When my Dad was in a similar situation I sat with him and told him what a great Dad he'd been and he said "Stop with the eulogies. Let me go in peace!" And he did. I still talk to the old B. or at least his picture on my shed wall, but he's not as argumentative as he used to be. Best wishes Wendy. It's a difficult time but we can get through it.

Hi all, thanks for your well wishes. I really appreciate it. It was special to have the time with Dad to tell him everything we could wish to tell. Also to reconnect with family and I have spent more time with my siblings in this past 7 weeks than I have since we were kids. It was really great. I came home today because my kids were running their Nanna ragged and she needs some space!! lol. My sister is with her till Monday and my borther lives at the other end of the farm. I am worried, but she has plenty of visitors so I will go back again soon. Steph, I have sent you a PM. Wendy

I am glad you got to spend lots of time with your brothers and sisters. Shame it was under sad circumstances. I am sure you Mum will miss you and the kids even if they were running her ragged I am sure she didn't mind
