i'm not sure if our pekin is a girl or a boy!!! we've had it for a few years and i'm pretty sure it's layed eggs b4 (it might've been sitting on our other chook's eggs), but it's started crowing and is not very social with our other 3 girls!! we always thought killer was a girl, but now i'm questioning that...... it also kind of thinks it's a dog because it follows people, comes in through the dog flap and eats the dog food! it'll hop into the dog flap and creep across the kitchen until it reaches the dog food, but then it can't contain it's excitment and lets out a low 'broooooooooook brook brook brook' and everyone yells out 'CHICKEN' and we race to shove it out of the dog flap again. ;D

what a great chook, sounds very amusing. Do you have any roosters? If not it can make a hen act like a rooster and crow. I don't know about the egg laying side though. If you could post a picture someone might be able to tell you for sure what it is.

Lol can just picture the lil bugger digging into the doggie food Can you post a piccie? Bit odd for it to be a roo and only just start crowing now. Sometimes hens crow, when there is no rooster, the matriarch of the flock takes on the dominant role and grows slightly larger comb and wattles and sometimes makes a crowing type sound.

I've got a couple of grandchildren. The boy looks like a girl and the girl like a boy. At least, I think... no, maybe that is the boy that looks like a boy and it's the girl who looks like a girl, or maybe they're changelings left by the wicked witch when she turned out grandchildren into teenagers. I always felt safer with my chooks because I could tell what they were, and now you say I can't even be sure of that? What is the world coming to?

Been there done that, and guess what they turned out great. Just to share a story....my eldest was going through a 'phase' and wanted a certain coat. Imagine the coat Cruela de Ville wore. Well it looked pretty much like that. She begs me to buy this revolting thing and being the huge softy I am, I buy this coat from the second hand shop for about the figure of $90. (Still can't believe I paid that for it) She tells me she will wear it all the time. So, Brother in law is getting married to long time partner, the weather is about 35. She wears this coat and it is getting hotter and hotter. She never took it off all day. The family still talk about 'The coat' and the wedding day....lol The worst second daughter did was come home with a tongue piercing, which she still has and she is 22 now. But eldest is happily married now and totally normal, I still get the shivers when I remember the dreadlocks and NITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (or should I say dog turds and nits, thats what they looked like) Just shivered again...lol
