hi all, I just thought I'd share the bargain my OH scored at the tip today. When he went out to drop off some garden rubbish he came back with a trailer cage $5 (which will be used for a tractor for younger chicks) and photos on his phone of some of those tradies sheds that they hire out on building sites for locking stuff away. $20 each. What a bargain! So I sent him back for one. They had 5 to choose from. Its an instant chookhouse. We got it off the trailer and put it in place and it looks like its been there for ever! Just needs a coat of paint and some windows. I will post photos when I get to it. Certainly saved Al some work building one from scratch, hes V HAPPY as you could imagine. He's really gotten into the chook/duck thing after telling me for the past 10 years or so weve been in town I cant have chooks again because of bird flu!! LOL The big softy! He loves the ducks and dotes on Star the newborn lone chick. He's such a dag sometimes. Im so pleased he got the Harley, its my bargaining chip now I cant wait to go to Bunnings and get the paint tomorrow. Lucky Im on holidays hey? Now to the makings of a tractor. The trailer cage has ringlock around it already but I will put some chicken wire around it and I scored a large plastic dog kennel from Freecycle the other day. I think this will be good for chickies that dont perch yet. Whew, sorry for the long ramble, I'll blame it on the glass of wine Ive just polished off while writing this ;D

Congrats on your find, it definitely is true the saying, one mans rubbish is another mans treasure. I LOVE going down to our recycle shop at our tip too, you can really find some amazing bargains there.

Wish I had a recycle shop :-( But we did score an old shed recently, made a perfect coup. Sounds like Al did a well and I can tell he was hooked when I saw the pictures of him, the ducklings and the dog.
