Hay all i have been reading the "new arrivals" and am all clucky for my own babies (which may not come for some time)... I am interested in buying a smallish incubator (approx. 20 chicken eggs) which will be suitable for different species.... I have been researching and what about the Rcom Pro 20 Quick Start Egg Incubator?? I have been borrowing a still-air brinsea hatchmaker, but haven't had much luck Please, some advice would be lovely:D because i just don't know???!!! Thanks, Yam

Hi Yam, and welcome to WAP, To resize photos go to all programmes on your computer, then pick accessories, then paint, open up the photo and then resize on stretch/screw, on my camera I need to select 20%, but yours could be different this is a link on how to load photos www.wapoultrytraders.proboards103.com/index.cgi?board=faq&action=display&thread=157Sorry I cant help much on recommending a small incubator as I dont use them but it would definitely have to be fan forced, preferably auto turn and have an accurate thermometer

Does anyone have a - Brinsea Octagon 10 Incubator - Auto Turn or a - Rcom Pro 20 Quick Start Egg Incubator or a - HovaBator Incubator with auto turning racks??? Any suggestions on good, reliable incubators Thanks, Yam Oh and i ave had three eggs in a still air hatchmaker and i have candled them every few days... two pekin eggs seem to have nothing, but a isa X egg (last egg layed by my chook who was savagely killed by a feral dog) was looking promising, but now all i can see is a darkish blur which is slightly transparent Is there any hope or should i just dispose of the eggs? They are 12 days... i should be able to see clearly bubs moving bynow...shouldn't I?

I have a still air hovabator, my hatches have been pretty good. My latest gave me 12 chicks out of 14. But I would recommend having a fan as it keeps the temp more even. Getting a good thermometer is vital, I bought a digital aquarium one off ebay, cheap and works well. For me only having an auto turner was the way to go. I am too busy and have my grandson around a lot who I would not trust around the incubator. That being said, he has only touched it once. Nana was very unhappy.
As for your question about the eggs, if in doubt leave them in a bit longer. But as you said you would think you would be seeing something moving around by now. I have left eggs that I was doubtful on upto the day I take them off the auto turner. By then there is no doubt whether are any good or not. Hope this has helped, others will probably offer their bit soon too

Hey yam nice to meet you i have the r com 20 and it is a breeze it auto sets and does it's thing and it has a full clear top so you can watch them all hatch without lifting the lid ( my hubby bought it for me ) i love it but as fluffy said most of these guys have hovabators and have no prob i think the biggest factor is where you store it hope that helps

Yam if you get a hovabator, go for the one with the BIG window not the two small ones. Makes viewing much easier for everybody. Genuinesqueak swears by getting a fan forced, maybe look into that as well. Good luck

Ok i have ordered one with fan-forced heating, but with the two small windows...d**n, i should have read this first, but awell, i guess i'll just be crouching over the bubs for hours, peeking through the tiny windows on the hatch day! Thanks heaps though! Everyone!

Its ok Yam, we all crowd around and you can still see. Might just have to take turns if they are in a out of the way spot.
