Hi everyone! I am here in Melbourne at the moment. Not a holday unfortunately. Visiting my sick father.
I was determined to bring some good home grown eggs over to him but I was a little worried that they may not make it through the check point. I was prepared to be wrestled to the ground so I could keep them. No one even batted an eyelid. Got them here no worries.
Obviously no one here has seen green egg shells before. My cream legbar eggs were the topic of conversation for a while.
I have tried to source some local fertile chook eggs to bring back with me but have only found Isa Browns. Not that I am prejudice, I just don't want any of those.
I have just about convinced my mum that she needs some chooks in the backyard. She is pretty keen. Just have to talk my brother into building a yard for them.
Will be home soon. Am missing my girls very much. Oh! and the OH as well. Cheers!

Glad you are able to get to be with your father, hopefully he will get better for having seeing you. Great to hear your mum is interested in some chooks, great therapy for dad too. Everybody needs a hobby and what better than chooks I say. Give your brother a big hug, and when he says what is that for, tell him thats for building the chook coup for mum and dad...lol Never know it might work

Hope your Dad feels better soon, if you can get a copy of the magazine Australasian Poultry there is a section at the back that has most of the poultry clubs listed and their contacts, you might have some luck there in your search for eggs.

Thank you for all of the good wishes. I am of course home now. Unfortunately my father passed away last week after a long battle but he went peacefully. Before he passed over I did have a long chat with him about my girls and all of the antics they get up to. It was good to see him laughing. I will miss him a great deal. We had 16 beautiful little Japanese Quails hatch out the day he passed away. I think it was his final gift to me.
