Hi Jacquie I guess life is catching up to me and I have very little free time at the moment. I do have something funny to share. A lady wanted to buy 2 fertile eggs from me to put under her broody. I said sure, she then rang me and asked me how I could tell which was going to be a pullet egg as she did not want any male eggs!!!!!! some days I wonder about people. Cheers Linda

Hello Ladies! I have not fallen off the perch but having sport with kids 4 days a week, seeding and playing midwife (for lambing ewes), it really cuts into my poultry time!
Linda, we had the same thing with selling some cows. A lady came out to only buy the ones without horns as she didn't want bulls. Angus bulls don't have horns. Probably should have mentioned that before she hopped in the yards to give the "lubbly wubbly mummy cow a cuddly-wuddly snuggle". Some people should be culled from the human gene pool and she nearly was, by Argus THE BULL. Or the bloke who came to look at our rams - he was very confused by the huge "tumours" hanging down between their back legs. But oh, soooooo very embarrassed when we said that was actually the bit that made them rams. Makes you wonder how some people can actually make it through their day, doesn't it?

Taking interest in Linda's comment about the lady that wanted only "Hen egg's"remind's me of a elderly farmer gentleman here in sunny downtown Boddington, I overheard him advising someone that; "If you dont want rooster's, only incubate the rounder ended egg's as they are hen's",Well, being a greenhorn at chook breeding I listened with interest & the two new arrival's that I have incubated, are the "Rounder Egg's", Guess I will see what they both turn into..........Who know's, that old gentleman farmer could be onto something... ::)Or, I could have been sucked in too...........

Hello everybody NO - I haven't been taken by some violent turkey gang, even though that could have been a very likely scenario Had a complete reorganization of my family and private life, and haven't actually lived at the same address as my beloved chooks for more than half a year.... But I'm getting them back on Sunday- YAY !!! ;D Just hope they'll cope with a tiny chook run in Perth city they'll probably escape and take public transport to Kings Park.... Anyway, nice to see you guys are still there and are enjoying your beautiful animals

thanks, Jaquie! Well, you're right about the party! guess what: EGGS are on the menu! They are literally throwing them at me ;D 5 in 4 days is pretty spectacular for my lot, so they can't be too unhappy Re 100th anniversary, a few hours ago I would have said I'm too busy to go anywhere on the weekend, but I just cut my finger, strategically perfect timing wise, so I can't do any housework or practice... maybe I'll see you at Claremont after all! Is anyone else from the crew coming?
