Here's some new pictures of the chicks. They're 2 weeks old now! Growing so quickly! Lavender araucana's Blue orpington. nother blue orpington although this one looks black, so i'm not sure what to expect with it... any opinions? Buffy the buff orpington My 9 toed silky. Has 4 toes on one foot and 5 on the other. Spook the black silky. White silky I'm thinking this will be a partridge silky. Black araucana I think it's going to be a black pekin I think this will be a buff pekin And maybe a partridge pekin? I can't wait until they grow up now, i want to see what they grow into! I got the last of my ordered eggs today, so have to put them all in the incubator tomorrow. Although i am tempted to only give the indian game eggs 12 hours to settle and put them in tonight, but i guess i should wait!

The 2nd blue orp could turn out a very dark blue or black, occasionally a breeder will put a black over the blues if they are getting a bit too light. I do this with my Australorps so I presume it would be the same with the orps, a 9 toed silkie is definitely different, but all look really great and healthy. The little white silkie is sooo cute!!!

Thank you I heard that about the orps so maybe, I can't wait to see! The chook in your picture is that an australorpe or an orpington? I've got three that look like that and always thought they were orpingtons but have had my doubts and thought maybe they're blue australorpes?

Here's probably a silly question, but how can you tell the difference between the two breeds? I think i might have australorpes.... Thanks Beck they've all got their own personalities already, the orpingtons seem to be the most docile and stay still the most when held by my son. In my opinion silkies aren't hard to keep, as long as they've got shelter (if they get wet they can get sick, because their feathers arent water resistant). The hardest thing i found was finding silkies to start with! That's why i've gone for the eggs. Much easier hehe.

Hi Squeak, I am finding it hard to tell as well, my blue and blacks are about 4 wks old now that I hatched together, and I am guessing that the Australorps are taller and their body shape is more angular, than the orps and there is more all over feathering, mind you I could have it the wrong way around.

I'll have to take some good pictures of my hens and see what you think about them. It's really bugging me now haha.
