Sounds like my "sexed" birds who were not actually "sexed" after all. So disappointing. But revenge is sweet especially with a little cranberry sauce! Post some pics of your progress, Trev. I'd love to see how they grow out.

surely the youngsters hormones will kick and they will breed, that is Trev, unless you find they are really tasty

I was told by everyone that you can not breed turkeys there to hard this was a couple of years ago when I got my first lot about 6 years I think well I could not stop the buggers the only thing I found was the moms were not to good at it they would as soon as they hatched out the young ones take off and go play lucky I had a older Hampshire hen she loved to bring them all up and there Dad I remember once it was raining no little ones to be seen anywhere so I went into there pen he stood up and the little ones fell out from under him one at a time wish I had a camera anyway to answer your question I got two lots per year out of the hens well worth it and a lot of laughs as well Trev

Hi Shea apparently its something to do with the size and the artificial insemination that stops them when you think in 15 weeks time they will be just over 12 kgs to heavy to breed from I would not like to be the hen under that lot with him wriggling around on top of me and that's the hens weight and they have been modified with the breast thingy
belle I will post as they grow Trev

Hi jacquie We were going to get 15 of them but I am told that someone put there hand into the carton and took a few out for them selves so they did not have enough to fill everyone's orders we ended up with 12 that will do for a start I have found homes for all the ones I have all 6 of them I could have doubled that order Next time I will know I am still interested to see if they will breed I am being told No by the breeders that has never stopped me trying before and wont this time Trev

Benda yes you can is the short answer to your question mate we used to do that often as soon as she went broody we would exchange her eggs for chicken eggs at the time we did not have a tom her eggs were not fertile she did a good job of hatching and rearing all on her own but get a lot together and the hens go walk about Trev
