Hi all i think my girls have a problem? An unknown i have 9 hens all young healthy looking pullets between 12-24 months old but only 1 egg a day. heres the problem. All of them look very healthy nd have been fully feathered for months now. They are fed and watered well have red combs and roost well at night. Ive checked there vents for parasites hanging around and none. There are some runny poops around and some firm. We haven't had more than 2 eggs a day for maybe 4 months? we recently got 2 white leghorns (2 weeks ago) the next day they laid then haven't laid since so i think its something in the pen Please help us. Thanks

the day lengths are shortening.
this affects the pituatary gland of the chicken, which produces the egg laying hormones.
when the day lengths start to lengthen again (after 21 june) they should eventually start to lay again.
it is unlikely to be something in the pen.

i thought about this i thought the leghornes and anconas would lay through this? I didnt think the wyanadotte would keep laying? We have an open pen and get quite a few wild birds in the coop especialy those little pigeons. We also had a hen with scaley leg. Thats bout it and ive put them on super poultry mix like was suggested. I thought mites or worms maybe? If its just day length when will they all lay again?

i have anconas, and while they are prolific layers, they are not laying atm. i expect them to start laying sometime in july/august.
