My Mum rescued a duckling and has raised it for the last few months. I thought it was a Pekin but now he is 5 months old he is HUGE! He looks like an Aylesbury duck and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to identify an Aylesbury from a Pekin? I would put on a photo but am technologically inept! He is white and has bright yellow feet and bright orangey-yellow beak. Any suggestions or where I can find some pictures to compare him to?

I know just about nothing about either breed of duck but I found this and hope it's helpful! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aylesbury_duckSeems the main difference from reading that is that the pekins walk in a more upright position and the aylesbury's taste better! So unless you want to eat him.......... ;D

Hi Belle.Aylesbury duck quite rare in every country on top ten critical list in Australia.Pure white, large body with a deep keel shape, have long flesh coloured bill ,orange feet .If the bill is orange it is not a purebred Aylesbury may have Pekin blood in it. If you PM with your Email address i will send you a photo of my Aylesburys .Can't work out how to do it on here.Ray

Thanks Ray for the piccies - and YAY! He's an Aylesbury! My Mum is in love with him and his future as Godzilla the duck is secure! He's in with some Frizzles so he looks massive! Especially with his hoofing great feet.
