Hubby has been working very long hours recently so I decided not to go to church and go to the swap meet with him. God must have been pleased with my decision to spend quality time with OH. Going down one of the aisles and low and behold the perfect and I mean absolutely perfect cage/brooder was for sale at $15. It can be used as a hospital cage, holding cage, travelling cage, it is fabulous. Anyway I showed interest in it and OH acted like, why do you want that, (his ploy). The guy said he was open to offers, OH said we will have a look if its still here when we come back, then we all laughed and said how many times it has been gone when we got back. So off handedly OH offers him $10 and the guy accepted it. WOOHOO. He used to keep broody bantam hens and day old chicks in it. So we move on to another aisle and there is an old infra red heat lamp for $5. I was going to buy a normal light, but hey this is great. Now I am all set for when my little chicky babes arrive, gee I hope those eggs are fertile....counting the days until I can candle..lol

I got a dolphin torch and toilet roll and it looks like I have fertile eggs, 6 definately as we could see spider veins, 4 unsure to no. I will leave it a few more days and check again. The duck eggs look like they are unfertile, but I did not think they would be. Sooty is still only young and inexperienced. So excited, my first go and so far so good. Must not have messed up the temp and humidity too much in the first couple of days
