we have a couple of chooks with a respiritory disease and have heard of tylan could any one tell us about it like does it work cost where you can get ect

Respitory desease can be one of 15 different desease that cause respitory problems tylan is good for microplasma but not fowl chlorea or ifectious broncitus sulhur based anti-biotics work better for these. You need to work out which one you have and im afraid the only way to be sure is to autopsy sick or dieing birds so you can save the rest of the flock.
you need a vet to prescibe you anti-biotics and that is difficult as well because most vets have no idea about chooks.
Also you need to find how it got in most cases it is mice or rats also wild pigien and doves carry some of these bugs. except Microplasma is in all unvacinated flocks all the time but the symptons come out when birds are under stress. Either worms cold we are having etc
It becomes a mine feild when dealing with these bugs and finding the right vet who truly knows what he is talking about and not just guessing the other option is to find a vet who is willing to get you a couple different types of anti 's then trail and error till you work out which one is working Liz

Thanks I think Ive over reacted they are looking as good as new LOL it must of been a cold or something minor like that
