Hello to all the ladies who breed the silkie !!! just a quetion on the colour on a couple of the silkie chicks that are hatching from yesterday and today ...How come some of them have racing stripes ?? i have a couple of buffs and a couple of yellow ones with black stripes ! ok ladies what colour will they end up thanks for all you help .. i so far have got about 30 chicks hatched out and approx 10 to go and i got heaps of black ones .. is the black common ta again

the ones with racing stripes have wild colour down, and are most likely to be a partridge version of colour, either buff based if the down is an orangy brown colour, or a silver base, if they are black stripes on a silvery type background. they could also just end up being plain buff if the racing stripes are not so strong.

ta Jacquie the stripes on the yellow chicks are really strong but the but is about medium and yes i will post piccies on saturday after it warms up a bit i have about 20 coloured up at the house and 10 out the back i passed onto a couple of desperate wanna be silkie mum's ..once the others got babies the other day they all started to go clucky it is like a crazy cherping creche here at the moment !! i just hope they all hatch as i still have a few in the bator either pipping or rocking but i lost one the other day it was cracked all the way round and nearly out but it must of got stuck and i was at work .. so sad poor baby

oh silkie mums really can be wanna bes can't they lol sorry you lost a baby while you were at work, some things just aren't meant to be.

hmm going to get some piccies of the bearded ladies now so i will do the babies too lol sadly 2 of the black chicks that hatched out have splayed legs they get up and walk a bit but they are doin the splits when they sit >>> can i fix this or do the have to go to chook heaven or should i wait and see how they go i have about 5 left to hatch now and 1 half way out but i think that is it an the others will not be pipping there way out poor babies
