A good sale at Albany on Saturday Feb 20. Prices for good birds were relatively high. Some nice Light Sussex hens sold around $45 each. Those attracting a lot of bids include Japanese bantams, pekins, gold laced, white and patridge wyandottes, light sussex bantams, frizzles. A couple of auracunas sold and from the interest in them more could have been. People seem to want the blue eggs. Average price for most good birds would have been $25 to $35. One roosters and cockers had starting prices below $20. A lot of chicks were on offer around $5 each, many looking like they still needed their mother. However, most sold so hopefully they went to good homes. A few less common breeds like old english game and d'uncles (if that's what they're called). Usual load of unsold cockerels and roosters but quite a few sold, mostly to younger buyers who didn't seem to care as long as they looked pretty.
