So glad the girls showed their mettle, they have been practicing and thought that their outfits just complemented their feathers, I must say I am very proud of them as they made them all by themselves. Beauty once again showing the way having been very impressed by Jacquie's craft group.
I was hoping they would turn up as they are in mourning for Dancer who passed away last Sunday arvo. We were re-arranging nesting boxes and a block narrowly missed her as it fell off the cupboard. About 15 minutes later I saw her outside in the pens, I went into a coop came out and she was gone. I think it was a heart attack or something, I checked her over and found no marks on her.
Looking at the video I think the roosters need a bit more lunging and kick boxing practice, the cat seems to be gettting in too many swats.

;D ;D ;D I agree with you, fluffychook, but just look at that chook's legwork, AMAZING! What a great move to get the self defense going ;D Lili is quite chuffed that William is planning on giving her more attention she just came back from the UK where she had herself painted - in oil, if I may add I think I can predict which coop that masterwork is going to decorate

:oSorry to hear about Dancer Fluffychook . :-[The can go into shock so easily. Colleen my Cochin jumped into a nesting box the other day and tipped it over and it landed on her . I don't know how long she was under it when I found her She has been sad and quiet for days .I'm quite worried . She is a great broody mum ,and has raised many chicks for me . I did how ever send her to Jacquie's craft classes and her work of art is displayed below ...she seemed to perk up for a while ;D.Jacquie is doing a great job with our birds they are producing great works of art and some wonderful clothing . ;)Seems the now think they should be selling . After seeing the beautiful painting of Lilli displayed last night William wants to go to Jacquie's classes and learn to paint . He was heard to say he would love to sit and paint Lili himself . Grinch now thinks he should be painting Beauty ...Look out fluffychook . I don't think Grinch has oils on canvas in mind ...more like chocolate body paint . 8-)Shameful bird Some of the craft girls want to make decorations to send to Trev to help sell his house. I think that was one of you chooks Idea pianochook ,they were telling my chooks they need a new project as your so busy now the don't get afternoon teas with you anymore and singing around the piano hasn't happened in months Colleens work of art

Aren't they just the most clever girls. I hope they all remember Jacquie is going away on holidays to Tasmania in a few days, just remind them of how cold it is there to make sure none try to catch the plane. I think my girls had plans until I casually mentioned this to them. They are a bit like me, hate the cold and I had to show them the freezer to help them really understand how cold snow is. (I never thought of shock Annie, she did not seem like she was that bothered at the time, just a squawk and no more).

A small shock can activate a heart attack if the bird has something going on in their systems.ie a cold brewing or a virus of some description ,,,,, parasite's in the heart ,,,,,,,age etc . Im glad you mentioned that Jacquie is going away (lucky her).I think the roosters were planing on arriving on her doorstep and asking for photography lessons . They have seen her great photos and heard that she has a new camera .... ;D ;D....I think they were hoping to have a go . I did warn them that they would have to start small .. ......but you know chooks ...they just huffed and walked away with their heads in the air crowing cooka do weell seeeeee.

I AM surprised, Anne, I had no idea my girls are bored, I get them to help me all the time, selling tickets, writing and sending out invoices... saying that, I haven't received any payments in quite a while maybe they are doing craft work instead??! Have your roosters seen Trev's nude chook photographs? They might be inspired by them? I hope Colleen gets better, maybe get her to see William, I'm certain he could help (if he finds time for any other lady, that is...) Lili said she won't start laying eggs until she can have the rooster of her dreams Bonnie, when questioned, just had a very blank look in her eyes and said "eggs? what eggs??!" so it seems Ronja needs to keep feeding the family by herself

My girls are most concerned about pianochooks ants and have been looking for solutions After Trevs brilliant suggestion that she employ a echidna the girls went looking .They think this young Echidna may well be acceptable and will not be thrown out by her husband . She is also going to help with the self defence course . Apparently the girls think there needs to be a little more feminine influence ;)in the classes to attract the silkies and bantam breeds along to training . ;D ;DI might add ,I hear Beauty is the champ of the girls much to the disgust of some of the bigger hens ,Very light on her feet. I'm thinking the ants are not going to be happy when they finally have to leave they really have been enjoying your hospitality pianochook . They may move to Trevs to have a go at his cheese .I would if I were an ant ,they look so good.

;D hubby has started building - should I say: :"accommodation" for the Echidna, he could not resist her charm, as expected, so please pass on my best regards to your chooks and thanks a million, that was a great find and worked a treat! The ants have requested using my phone as well as the yellow pages, and I overheard them ordering a maxi taxi for 5am tomorrow, they liked the idea of moving to Trev's place so I assume that's where they're going they are coming with the whole family, I saw them walking about pushing little prams with ants eggs in them Ronja is not showing any signs of tiredness after laying an egg a day, quite the opposite, she keeps flying over the newly build fence, telling me how appalled she is that I now keep them locked up in a tiny cell (if you can call 20m² a tiny cell : .

Ronja is not silly .Fancy being locked up in a cage when you can free-range. She apparently has been out teaching the ants to play ;D ;D,smart chook she thought they would be great team members for the big band . The ants were pleased with her lessons and according to a couple of my polish (who came to see off the ants ) They gave a little performance and gave a beautifully wrapped gift to ronja ...with their thanks . My girls cant wait to find out what she received The ants are off to Trev's ,Music instrument's and all .They have heard not only of his cheese but also of his country hospitality and cant wait.

Ronja is a smart chook ,she knows where the best grass is .No wonder she hid the present . Trev ,I'm hoping the ants decide to stay in your neck of the woods I'm about to go away for a few weeks and my daughter is looking after my chooks .I would hate her to find the ants in their Caterpillar- mobile pulling into our drive way . Amazing machine ,I got a glimpse of it as they left pianochooks on the way to you . By the way Trev ,I thought you should know....and any other fox hunters out there ...The ants came upon this in your paddock when they were out looking for housing Apparently the foxs are in training .... ..no prizes for guessing what(who ) they will be after next

HI all You know I think that picture of the fox is the best so far, its been around the traps now for a while nothing to beat it. As for the ants. I have everything ready for them, all they have to do is to show up "oh" what a surprise I have in store for them. I got rid of all my ants the first year in this place. We were covered in meat ants all over the place taking over the chook runs and the garden, now all I have left is the small ones. the place is large enough for the time being for them as well. I think they best head that caterpillar bus up your way or they will be wiped out once and for all the war is on. I happen to love wild rabbit cooked in red wine and prunes Yum so the fox will be the next victim The WAR IS ON Trev

here's some quotes from the "raining at last!!" thread, just to keep up with the events : Anne, it's so nice to read your name on the board again! ;D Hope you had a good trip we had a real downpour, and my ladies were running for cover - they hate water, usually means it's me with the garden hose trying to shoo them back into the coop ( I know, I'm a bad mum ) Pianochook what a mean mum you are ;D ;DHad a great trip .Are your other hens laying yet ? Anne, I wish!!! Lili has turned into a giant white bully monster, she lays down the law in the coop, but that's about it Bonnie, plain and simple minded just does whatever Lili does, which is complaining all day and NOT laying eggs and Ronja, after laying an egg a day for at least a month intended to go broody, but changed her mind after I was shooing her out of the box all day unfortunately she has since stopped laying all together - mind you, it got so cold that I would not have wanted to lay anything myself So that's the news from my place.... sorry to hear about your fox business, they might have targeted you because you leaked the pic of the shooting fox...you're lucky they got the chooks and not yourself ( sorry, just couldn't help myself) Pianochook . Sounds like some retraining is in order . All the fame etc gone to their heads .I get my birds to arrange some sort of education program for your girls and report on the Funny-Turkey add thread. Better watch what pics I post !!! I'm rather glad I got away with my life ...Those foxes just might mistake me for a Well fed buff Sussex Help Trev!!!
