hi, iv just hatched some pekin ducklings on my first incubation attempt.. im super happy! but now that i have them under a warm light i have provided them with water but not sure what food to use...... i have mushed up a bit of whole grain bread with some water for the time being, fingers crossed that that is ok.. but surely there must be something better to give them....any ideas appreciated! cheers

Don't feed your baby ducks anything with salt in eg. left over cereals etc .It will kill them or cause fits.I always use chick starter crumble , duck starter if you can get it with no coccidiosis or other medication in .Use ice cube trays for food and water. Don't let them get wet or chiilled. Keep them in draught proof box cover with wire mesh to stop any vermin etc.Heat at 37.5 for first week reducing heat slowly over 6 weeks make sure they have room to move away from heat source if to hot. Over feeding and to much protein can cause Angel or slip wing in young ducks they grow to fast .The problem doesn't seem to bother the duck but it spoils the look of them.
