Look what I found when I went to check on Big Sister today! It's official, she's now "Big Momma" This little one is a day early, he/she is black with a few tiny silver wisps showing through. It's either an Australorp, Andalusian and Aracana. Hopefully there will be a few more tomorrow. Unfortunatley hubby didn't get the web cam up and running in time but here is a little video I took on my phone. The webcam will have to wait until we hatch something in the bator, apparently it wouldn't work on such a long USB extersion cable. (ignore the silly babytalk in the background, it's my sister and I, I was a little bit over excited) Oh, and I'm not sure where the ad came from, I guess it's a you-tube thing.

Oh, how cute! I'm so happy for you, congratulations, again!!!! Good idea with the little film, too - and if you call that "silly baby talk" you have never heard me talk to my chickies (my neighbors probably think I've gone completely nuts) .... Your hen is a "Big Momma" all right well done to her! I hope you get lots more tomorrow

Thanks! We've had a few more developments today. This morning there was a little yellow chick peeking out from under Big Mumma too.
I've been offering Mumma water and hosing the outside of the coop and trying to keep her cool all day, but she was in a fair bit of heat distress this afternoon and finally abandoned the nest (she took the chicks with her) about 3pm. Fortunatley I was out there when it happened, so I grabbed the rest of the eggs and put them into the bator (I set it up to test last night so it was still running... handy timing). Now I've had a chance to see the other eggs I can tell you the black chick is an Aracana and the Yellow one is a Faverolle, it's so cute with it's little fluffy legs.
There is also another Aracana and an Australorp that have just pipped their shells, hopefully they will hatch overnight.
I'm buggered! I've spent the last two hours looking at the bator, then dashing outside to check on Mumma... wish I didn't have to go back to work tomorrow!

Daily Update :-)
We're now up to 4 chicks.
Two have hatched in the Bator today, another Aracana (this one is grey) and a HUGE Australorp (bootstrap - that one is from the eggs you gave me). The Aracana is dry now so I'll slip it under Mumma tonight, the Australorp might have to wait until tomorrow as he only hatched about an hour ago.
There are 6 more eggs in the bator, but none have any signs of piping yet, I've leave them another day or two just incase.
