Hi I have just bought two australorp 6 week olds and was planning to buy two 16 - 20 week old ISA Browns to put in with them.
The plan was to seperate them from each other for a few days in the same pen and then let them mingle together after this time.
I also doubt whether the 2 australorps have been vaccinated so I guess there maybe problems there.
Any comments on solutions pr problems I may have would be welcomed as I am new to this.
Thanks
Pepsi

Pepsi I shouldn't worry about Vaccination issue , some have some have-not !!!And your Idea is a good one ,putting them together but apart . I find i to add a couple to a group especially if they have been together for a while is more successful than just adding one .Should work well.Good luck Annie

Hi Pepsi! I agree with Annie in that you should add them together to the group - they will hang around and look out for each other. I'm not sure that I would put 6 week olds with Isa's though, they can be a little agressive towards smaller birds. I introduce my light sussex young birds when they are about the same size or a bit bigger than the Isa's, then they tend to stick up for themselves a bit more. They tend to be a bit older than 6 weeks though - more like 12 weeks I also agree with Annie - don't worry too much about vaccination, I don't think it'll make any difference. I'm sure I've had some that are and aren't, and they're all still healthy! Cheers!
