Hi Everyone I am planning on mixing my 10,12 & 15 week old pullets to my older flock. The new girls are on pullet grower and is it ok for the older girls if they eat this as I am sure they will like it preferred to their laying pellets! If they older girls eat pullet grower are the eggs ok to eat?. How have you more experienced chooken loves delt with this situation? All advice gratefully wanted. Thanks Linda

The pullet grower is safe for layers and their eggs I checked with the manufacturers only a month or so ago, it doesn't have as much calcium in it as layer crumbles I give my teenagers both and throw on shell grit for the layers to eat if they need it . The protein mix is different too I believe in the 2 mixes so i also give them all poultry mix as well and they pick out what they want ;D

I think it depends on what brand of pullet grower you use, Wesfeed dont use a coccidiosis treatment in theirs but Milne feeds do .

just use a good quality laying crumble not pellets if you are mixing these ages Milnes the best or Poultry co-op if you can find. Still has the good high protein level and calcium and small enough grains for babies and of course freeranging your chickens helps them grow and they eat slaters etc which ups the protein
