Hi Everyone, I know a few of you use the product Ivomec, and I was told that you had to order it from over east. I just wanted to let you know that Landmark in Northam has it in stock for $64 inc per 250ml bottle, they can order in the Ivomec + but he wasn't sure of the price until they ordered it. If you'd like to contact them to enquire about this product you can ring them on 9621 2900 I've just recently started using this product and I now swear by it

Hi Brendon, I think its not Ivomec that you cant get locally but Moxydectin and Moxydectin+ Ivomec is more readily available at stockfeeds and rural suppliers as it is used for sheep etc. Cheers, Wendy

oh ok, I didn't realise that the Ivomec was easier to obtain, as I couldn't get it any where up here, even the stock feeders only sold Verbamac which isn't the same. The only place I could get it was land mark.

Hi, this might sound like a silly question but what is the difference between Ivomec and Moxydectin, and then between Ivomec+ and Moxydectin+. do they each do different paracites? i have also had a heap of trouble finding either one, i had called land mark in our area and they thought i was strange had no idea what i was talking about, but i think i might go in myself and have a little look as they are not very good with customer service.

they come from the same family of chemicals the macrocylic lactones. i am not entirely sure of the difference between them, but ivomec does the job just as well. the major difference in people's eyes may be that moxidectin has been approved for use on poultry while ivomec hasn't, although they do the same thing and its just that the poultry industry isn't big enough to make it worth the while of chemical companies to do all their checks to get ivomec approved.

ps when using ivomec you also need to ensure you are using the product in teh way it was designed..................EITHER as an internal treatment OR as an external treatment. to state the obvious the drench is the internal treatment. if applied in the wrong way it would be as good as dosing hte birds with water.

thats a good hint jacquie, i prefer the topical treatment (external) for my birds(chook and parrots), but for the sheepy i prefer drench (internal) then i dont have to worry about more on their wool than on their skin, plus its nicer for the girls that dont want to spend as much time near us, but our hand reared ram basicaly drinks the stuff so he is easy

I forgot to mention that, the Ivomec that I was referring to is actually a pour on for cattle, I have heard of people using the ivomec drench for sheep in their birds by weighing the individual bird and administering with a crop needle, but that seems like a whole lot of mucking around if you have a large number of chooks. The pour on is more suitable for me Thankyou for the info in the moxidectin Jacqui, I actually wasn't aware that it had been approved for use on poultry, so there you go, always something new to learn

Hi just thought i would let you all know , Gingin's landmark sells Ivomec, 2.5ltrs at $255 or 5ltrs at $300, id rather poke my eye out than pay that price. but i suppose you could get it ordered in a smaller amount. that or i have to go make friends with a cattle farmer in the area

that is steep, did they sell it in the 250ml at all? due to the tiny amount that you use on your birds, that sort of volume would last a long time, I wonder what sort of shelf life it would have??

i know i almost fell off my chair when he told me, no they didnt sell the 250ml, but i know a vet that taught a couple of tafe courses i went to, who is looking into ivomec and moxidectin plus, although she belives that moxidectin is not approved for use on poultry, thats why i have been chasing the makers name or even the supplier eg; bio-john ect., though i rang bio-jonh today and they dont sell it there, they do sell; normectin, auzmectin, addmectin, bovemectin (dont quote me on the spelling as i spoke to them on the phone and didnt ask for correct spelling), but i have no idea if these things are even remotely similar to each other.

thanks Jacquie, i dont have any intention of getting any of these other dectin products from bio-jonh as its not realy what im after, i do know about active ingredients in animal medications. Thank you also for the information on Dr Colin Walker, i should now be able to find out who supplies him with this product, or what company in wa is able to get it from the supplier, it might help people looking for it western australia if they are able to get it from a company here. Thanks again everyone

The price is not bad for sheep ivomec when you can share it around a few people just have to remember it must stay in the dark. A 5 lt bottle last me for 3 to 4 yrs and im breeding 700 chciks a week.
