BATCH ONE Hey all. Last night I fell asleep to my isa brownX hen clucking and babies-in-eggs cheeping. The hen made a nest near my bedroom window and I a friend gave me some guinea fowl eggs to raise for her. They are/were supposed to be due in three days... Look what I found this morning: ^ 2/7 are lavender ^.^ ^some of them have really unusual down colour patterns

ikbokchook, the hen's father is a crossed breed and the progidy of two cross breeds, but her mother was isabrown. Thanks everyone! This is my first experience with hatching keets and I'm a bit ignorant. However, I know that the light ones are lavender and now that the 'unusual' ones will be pied and that they will grow up to be very loud! One thing did surprise me though - the SIZE OF THEIR FEET! well, the width in particular. I mean, they are so fat! Chubawabbas! I also checked the second hen (due a day later - supposed to be this coming friday) and three of her ten have hatched as well. Still wet though. Prepare yourselves for an on-going blog of quinea fowl happenings on my side more photos tomorrow and I'll try not to bore you to death =D
