Hi all, I lost a chickie last night It got strangled in Snowy's feathers. I got her and trimmed all her under feathers and under her wings etc. So hopefully we wont have anymore casualties. It was looking like it might be a blue cuckoo too. So from now on I will be making sure my Silkies are trimmed before I give them chicks.

I have read about it once before on BYP I think but I never thought it would happen to me.. you know. So Ive learnt something from it and can hopefully prevent it happening again.

I have had close calls with mine, so I always run my hands through their feathers when they are broody to make sure there is not matting which causes the chicks to get caught. Another option is to trim.
