Well I have 4 bubs this morning and the other 6 eggs are all pipping or zipping. They are due today so I didnt expect to find one hatched in the bator when I got home yesterday after work! I went to turn my Faverolles eggs and there was a chicky! Here is a piccy of the first 4. The one with lots of white seem to have spraddled legs (butnot out sideways, more in front) and would you believe not a bandaid in the house to be found!! So Im off to the shops later to get some. They new bubs are temporarily in a washing basket until srtrong enough to go in with the Silkie chicks who were hatched on Monday. I will post some more pics when the others hatch and are fluffy

I cant remember Annie they are posted eggs. I have emailled the lady to ask her. I know she has a Crele rooster. Not a bad effort from posted eggs. I have 6 bubs now and 4 more pipping. Thats out of a dozen eggs posted from over east!

Ok got the email from Beth and this is what she said regarding colours. Sounds like its going to be interesting. Sad that 1 of the chickies that could be a mottled has both legs sort of out in front of it. I have tried to help it by splinting, we shall see how it goes. The parents are every colour under the sun - that's why it'll be interesting! The father was either silver / split gold crele or a furnace or a black / slpit mottle. If the chicks are black with a whitish spot on the head they'll be from a black hen by the silver crele (similar to a cuckoo chick) - they will be silver crele or birchen not sure how they'll grow out yet, if they are black and white all over they will be mottles, if they are black with white chest and wing tips they'll be black; if they are greyish white they'll be white, if they are orangeish white they will either be buff or maybe golden crele, if they are plain white these will be anythings - they'll be wheaten based and will constantly change as they get older . . Oh yeas and theres 7 out now, 3 to go

How exciting it will be interesting to see how they all turn out .Who did the eggs come from in the east? I had some break out with funny legs 2 months ago under a clucky , and they are all fine now.Took them 2 -3 days to get strong.

Well all 10 have hatched and they are a great mix of colours! The one who had its legs out if front of it is now running around fine. I ended up taking the slpint off this arvo. Theres 4 in the washing basket and the rest are in the brooder with the 2 Silkies. Theyre all getting on fine. The eggs came from a lady called Beth who is a member of Backyard Poultry forum. Next chickies to hatch at my place are the Faverolles. I hope to get such a good hatch rate with them, we'll see. Usually I only get 1 or 2 to hatch!! This was the best ever from posted eggs. wish they were all like that! Im going to take all the eggs out of the bator tomorrow and give it a quick scrub down. I guess if the hen can get of for 10 or 15 minutes I should ahve time to do that without it affecting them. What do you guys think? And I will take some more pictures tomorrow morning of the little gang

Heres what the lady I got the eggs from thinks about their colouring, cant wait for them to get bigger and see what they look like Ok - I think - will probably be proven wrong down the track - 4 mottles; black split mottle rooster over mottled hen mum, the silvery / grey one might turn out white (recessive) - black rooster over white hen mum, the three black ones with the white dot on the head will be interesting - a quick look would say cuckoo but I know the cuckoo pullets weren't laying in that lot of eggs - so I'm going to say black hen, silver split gold crele rooster, the orangey white one looks buff, but father could have been the silver split gold crele rooster, the white one with the dot I'm going to say wheaten based maybe the furnance rooster had a look in! They will all be interesting as they get older! Well done on getting so many out!

Now I know you guys will either understand totally or think Im a crazy woman...lol At the moment I have my new chickies inside in the portacot with their mummy at night, the only reason really is because we all love having the chickies inside with us when theyre little. The kids can see them easily and have a hold Hey not everyone has a feature like that in their house!! hehe ;D All are doing really well.
