Hi all, just letting you know I have two healthy little Silkie chicks hatch this morning They were eggs from a friends Mum's silkies. She put them in the fridge at work for another lady for eating over the weekend, but she forgot them so I stole them ;D and put them in the incubator. I put 5 eggs in because one had a weak shell. 1i was stinky after a week or so. and 1 was infertile and another I tossed because it had a blood ring.Black dad and white mum I think. They look to be a dark grey colour. Sooooo cute! First time with baby Silkies! I will post some pics tonight after work Chickies on a Monday make it almost bearable I still have 10 eggs in the bator due on Thursday I bought a dozen Pekin eggs and would you believe after that long haul from the east I have 10 goers?? My best eggs yet. Im hoping most will hatch. I have prepared broody silkie and put her in another portacot on the patio. These Pekin chickies will hopefully go under her once hatched.

lol just talked to my oldest daughter whos at home and she says they wont shut up unless she feeds them She's been putting food and water on her fingers and feeding them. I said they probably think shes their mummy!! Tina, I did tell Sarah I had taken the eggs but I havent told her whats hatched yet! Im waiting for photos so I can email her as she's working in Margaret River until Thursday. She gave me 3 earlier on which I put under my broody silkie but she kicked them all out after a few days because she'd been sitting for way too long. Shes the one I gave the ducklings to. hehe the ducklings are nearly the size of her now!!

I have read that the ones with the biggest cone heads usually are girls.
