I already have about18 chicks out under the hens and now I have a hatch in the incubator. I have a pic of the first chick to hatch, it is an unusual colour (for me anyway!) if anyone knows what it possibly could be please let me know . It looks silver in real life, but on the camera it comes out almost black... I noticed that it has some middle toe feathering which is good but each middle toe is white just on the tip and the nail.

i have had birds which hatched that colour that turned out to be grey chicks...........like the grey hen you put the picture up of the other day, especially with you saying it looks to be silver in natural lighting. it will be interesting to see how she turns out, nice foot feathering too btw

Thanks for the suggestions! I am going to keep it until it gets bigger and see what it turns out like.

Those pink toes probably will darken too.
