Can you take them back? thats not good of the breeder to decieve you like that. I'd be having a polite word maybe?

If I were you, I'd be ringing them and complaining. You should get what you've paid for. There seems to be a fair few "breeders" out there that are happy to flog cross breds as purebreds and seem to get away with it.

My experience was a very long time ago and it only cost me $10. I put it down to well learnt experience. But I am not confrontational and would find it very hard to go back later and say something. But I think it also depends on what it cost me. In my case I had every opportunity to check the bird out so I felt it was my own inexperience and a learning curve.

Sorry to hear you got stung Em we all probably have at least once or twice. Have been in the same position myself and even when I complained to the breeder they weren't prepared to take them back. Mine were chicks so a bit hard to tell and so much easier to get stung. I have learnt so much since that incident and am a lot more careful who I buy from and try to find out if any one has dealt with the person I want to buy from to get feedback on quality and health of the birds plus I have learnt a lot more about the standards of the birds I am chasing...Still learning now so hopefully I wont get caught out again...

This has just happened to me too. I bought a young black australorp that now lays blue/green eggs only last week and seems to have a pea comb? go figure! I feel disapointed but our girl has a nice personality so i will hopefully get an australorp pullet in the very near future from a more honest source. Cheers linda29

Sounds like your Australorpe is an Araucana or Araucana x They add variety to the egg basket with such pretty eggs. I have 2 black ones here that are POL so Im waiting patiently for a green egg
