I just noticed one of my chicks acting a little bit weird. Its neck is a bit sideways and sometimes it puts its head down between its legs and walks backwards. I have read somewhere that this is possibly wry neck and can be caused by a deficiency. Has anyone had it and if so how did they treat it and will it recover. I did a search here and did not find it, sorry if it has been on before.

I hope you find an answer. I had a chick like that a while back but I had no idea how to treat it and it unfortunately died. so I hope some one can give you advice on what to do.

Thanks Carolyn, some of what I have read said give Vitamin E, so I am waiting on some experienced people to give some advice.

I had one like that in my last hatch, a little buff orp, I dont know whether it was a true wry neck or not, or whether it just took a little too long to hatch and its neck sort of got stuck in that position, but all I did was put it in the brooder with the others and massaged its neck several times a day, and after about a week it was running around happily like the others,

This one has been fine for a few weeks and then yesterday I noticed it, I checked it this morning and it looks like it has been hung up by a hook making its neck bent. I will get the camera out after my grandson goes home and post it so you can get an idea of what I mean.
