It is so exciting getting that so much waited for first egg. Hopefully the rest will start laying soon. I have one silkies I am desperate to start laying so I can breed from her, she is 7 months old now. But she is close as the rooster is very interested in her.

The fisrt eggs are always the generater of great excitement. were they blue eggs? I have some Araucana x's that give me lovely blue eggs and the kids are very excited when a new blue egg arrives. I hope the rest start laying soon. oh and Tina I had a word to your silkie while I was at yours on the weekend. Expect something in the next week or so....LOL

All her eggs will be in the incubator, no circle eggs (that's what my grandson calls poached eggs) from her.

Oh and I will not be impressed if she only lays a dozen and then goes broody, that would be the pits.

Nice one moustache...Maybe you will need to have 2 eggs per slice of toast....
hehehe Tina....LOL next time I come over I'll show Fluffy the nest box....But meantime maybe you should stick an old egg in there for a couple of days to give her the idea...My Fav's laid their 1st couple of eggs out on the floor and I stuck a couple of older eggs in the nest box and they eventually got the idea. and I have my fingers crossed she wont go clucky till after you have at least a bater full..Oh by the way my pekins first couple of eggs were duds. Wish I'd known that before wasting bater space
