I have had the worst long weekend I had to have my beautiful horse put down on Saturday night after a 2 day battle with colic. I tried everything I could to save her but after numerous vet visits there was nothing more I could do, I couldnt let her suffer anymore, I had to let her go I am absolutely devastated. We have buried her in her paddock and are going to plant a special tree in her honour. So I am having a very difficult time at the moment I think these chickies that are due on Friday couldnt have come at a better time, hopefully they will cheer me up a little bit. I'm so sorry to hear about your horse. It's devastating when a loved one, animal or human, is suffering and everything you try to do to help is not enough. Your pain is for them, and for yourself and it is doubly painful. I can only send love and best wishes. I wish I could do more.

Thanks guys. Thankfully at almost 1, my lil boy is too young to realise or understand what happened. Our darling 3 year old neighbour does realise that something isnt right, she used to go for a walk with dad each night to visit Rini. She just adored her. I've decided to plant a golden shower tree. I've always liked them and I thought it was kind of appropriate to plant a shower tree when her name was forever raining.

Feeling very sad with you, big hugs for you, remember the good times it helps, even with the tears. Golden shower trees are beautiful, very apt I think.

Steph, so sorry for your loss, it is so hard to make that choice to finish the suffering even though you know you are doing the right thing, but take solace in knowing that while she was here you did the best for her and she was happy, she will always be with you in the memories of all the good times that you had together Big hugs.

Just thought I would add that we lost our Dalmation Dapper a few month ago. He was 15 and very much a part of our family. He suffered from skin cancers which we had to have cut out constantly but they just kept on coming growing bigger and bigger more quickly. We put off making decision for over 6 months as it was so hard to let him go. But he had suffered horribly and in the end we finally had to put him down. He is under a Crepe Myrtle that we planted to celebrate his life. Which is just inside the gate to my orchard/poultry yard. so I get to say hello every day. I still cry when I think about him. So Steph I can definately feel what you are going through right now. I think the golden shower is a beautiful tree and a great way of comemorating your beloved "Rini " RIP

The golden shower tree is beautiful and will be a constant reminder of your Rini. Try to remember all the good times, she was lucky to have you too.
