Hi Lakelands, NO it is not a dumb question. Leg pigmenter is an additive that you put in their feed and is suppose to make yellow legs more yellow. but word of warning, you only use 2grams per 1 kg food, give too much and you end up with red egg yolks

Good point Beck, I dont know, as I only give it to the ones growing through and to the ones that I will be showing, with the breeders I dont really worry if their leg colour fades

Maize/sweetcorn is said to give good colour to the bills feet & legs of Pekin ducks .It's organic might be worth a try on chooks. The corn feed chicken sold in some places is very yellow all over skin legs and feet.

Rap, you should have seen the ducks hoe into the sweetcorn that I didnt get while we were away in Denmark! It was all dried out on the plants so we threw it into thir pond and it rehydrated. it was sooo funny watching them nibble it off. It kept them ocuppied for ages

Wendy .Have you tried the ducks with tomato mine adore them. I get the odd box of over ripe ones, trouble is they know where i keep them now and help themselves. I had some over ripe honey dew melons this week they dug a hole in the end and had there head inside eating the middle out. They ended up with orange heads would have made a great photo.
