Okay I have problems with my guinea fowl, but I do want to put in some good words for them. I find them more entertaining than chooks because when they are out on the grass they run around with their strange gait and they sort of dance at each other, while the chooks just graze without doing much except look pretty. They are such exotic looking creatures too. One of the troubles I find is they have a "good" reputation for eating bugs and not damaging the garden, which isn't quite true. They eat the bugs but they can also make a mess of a lawn digging out any patchy areas to dust bath in, and they will scratch any mulch all over the place in a very short time. So now I've said good things about them and bad things. I think clipping their wings is a good idea as it makes them easier to keep out of a fenced garden. They don't seem to be like chooks which learn not to fly. They always fly, which is another of their attractions if you have the space for them to fly in.

My sister has them and they are a very handsome looking bird, as her chook paddock is large you don't seem to hear them. But boy forget it if you want to catch them, can they run fast.
