As my Subject title says I am in Albany and very keen to chat with other people around here.
I am new to Albany and to chooks but love seeing my birds roaming the garden and getting fresh eggs daily. I got 6 hens from a farmer friend of a friend and they are great.
I have 3 Isa Browns, 2 black bantams (not sure what breed) and 1 grey feathered hen with a gold collar around her neck (again not sure of breed, probably a mixer)
My 2 banties went broody shortly after I got them so managed to get some fertilised eggs under them and 2 days ago I had 4 chicks hatch. Spoke to the person who I sourced the eggs from and based on the colouring I have 1 Andalucian (does anyone keep them?) and 3 layers (unless of course they grow to be roos) .... the people I got them from has been cross breeding thier own for years apparently so not really a known breed as such. They just called them layers.
Anyway, please say hello as I love WAP or what I have seen of it so far and hope to meet some more people around here as I would really love to add some colour and other breeds to my flock... I am thinking GLW, Light Sussex, Plymouth Barrs and some frizzle and silkies/pekins.
Can't wait for the Albany show next weekend!
Thanks to everyone for reading and I will try not to ask too many silly questions as I really am a novice and trying not to make too many rookie mistakes.

Hi Ray!
Yep, sure did find the site and you are right. It is a great spot. I have emailled Grant but not heard back yet. Also found a poultry breeder in Torndirrup which is a suburb in Albany.. not contacted them yet though as didn't think they would appreciate hearing from me on a saturday night!
Is there a option here to see recent posts? or recent ads? I see the classies are listed by breeds but alot of the ad's are so old I am not sure if they are still relevent.
thanks again

You can still contact some of the old advertisers. If they don't have what you want then they might be able to put you in touch with another breeder worth a try.Or put a wanted ad upon the board.

Hi Tammy, Welcome to WAP, at the bottom of the forum you can click on 50 most recent posts and these will then come up with the most recent first.

Hi Tammy. Were you at the Albany sale? Possibly the exotic-looking lady in black with the red hat with a ribbon round it, or the quiet one with the pale blue dress who sat on a chair a lot of the time. Possibly the one with the long black hair and the hippy type clothes and lots of kids. You could even be the lady in the green top who bought my gold laced wyandottes. Her surname was Jackson. I should have asked her christian name. I'm pretty certain you weren't either of the blokes with the tatooed arms, but I suppose you could have been the wife of one of them. Possibly you were the mum of the little boy who so expertly caught one of my hens when it escaped through the bars of its cage. I moved it (the bird not the boy) to another cage with narrower bars and learned something about which cage to select in future. Perhaps you were the lady with the engagement ring who was bidding against me for the frizzles. If so, sorry! but you did get the other one. Then there was the lady ..... Oh well, maybe we'll meet at a future sale.
