Thanks Wendy, sounds like a great day for you. We had an early lunch with my daughters, son in law and grandchildren. My poor Jayden was helping Aunty clean the wooden chairs yesterday and dropped one on both his big toes. He is a very tuff little fella but he screamed and cried for about 3/4 hour. So today he is very tentative and promptly hurt his big toe again. I was not too well today, so took it easy. We have cold meat and salad for dinner. Very healthy. Hmmmmm, got any pav....I think I could go just a bit...lol Anyway update on chickies, another one just hatched. The other one looks like it is hours away. Maybe a boxing day present.

Congrats fluffy, hopefully you've got another lil bub waiting for you when you get up in the morning We had a nice day today down in Perth with my mum and brother. My poor lil baby is teething at the moment and not having an easy time of it but he did quite well today considering that. He got sooo many prezzies being his first xmas, you should see our lounge room, the floor is covered in toys. I'm tripping over them to get to the couch lol. My OH gave me some chookies for xmas He bought me 2 RIR pullets, 2 Brown Leghorn pullets and 2 Light Sussex chicks for my new 'laying hen' pen

Congrats Fluffy on you Chrissy babies and Cluck and your new arrivals, we spent the day down at the SIL in North Dandalup and just got home a little while ago to feed and lock up all the animals, but had a great relaxing day with all the family, we are all feeling very bloated and no one wanted any dinner. Thank goodness!!!

Woke early this morning due to the NOISE from the bator. Checked on them and the third little chicky was half way out. Took the other noisy ones out and put them in the brooder and added more water as humidity was a bit low . One is light blue the other dark, the one just hatched looks a very light blue. Can't tell for sure as it has only just hatched. I am very happy with the colours this time. The last hatch gave me what appears to be whites and dark blues. Just a thought about splash colour chickies, should they have colours in their feathers straight away or do they come in later. Sounds like you all had a great day stuffing your faces...lol I was good (well I was sick so no stuffing for me)

Looking forward to seeing piccies My D Gregory eggs are due on the 2nd so not too much longer to wait. My first couple of dozen in the bator are due to hatch tomorrow I'm no expert on splash chickies coz I've never hatched one but from piccies that I've seen they look like they hatch a silvery colour then the splash colouring comes in when they feather up. Maybe I'm wrong though.

Thanks cluck, so it sounds like the yellows that hatched are whites. I look forward to seeing what you hatch out. The last chick to hatch is looking either light blue or silver. So maybe that is going to be splash. I will take some pictures soon when the little one dries out. With all the movement in the bator from the chicks, I am unsure what is peeping. I can see there is at least one.

Aw, they are soo gorgeous I cant wait for mine to start hatching! How many chickies are you expecting? I candled mine again last night and it looks like I should hopefully get 8, the others had half developed but then obviously died. Still very pleased with that though. The other lot that I got from QLD that are due tomorrow, looks like I will get 3 or 4 hatch (fingers crossed), the rest of the eggs were full of air bubbles or not fertile, which was a little disappointing. So my chances of one of them being lavender are pretty slim but maybe I'll get lucky.

Hi fluffy, they are gorgeous What little cuties. My kids love them. Cant wait to see what colours they are when theyre big. Sorry to hear you werent well Chrissy day by the way. Bummer. My Dad spent the morning at the hospital because he was really sick and dehydrated. he is having chemo at the moment and its really taking it out of him. They put him on a drip and other stuff. Mum had cheese and crackers for lunch!! Pity they dont live closer, she could have come over and helped us with the leftovers. Dad is feeling better today though. A funny story for you (well now thats its over with). A friend of mine came around this morning and she had a surprise visitor on Christmas eve!! At about 8.30om her and her son were putting a cubby together for her grandies in the backyard. All of a sudden a naked man jumps over the fence. He started laying into her son and who promptly grabbed the mop and started to fight back. the man was disorientated and probably high on something. My friend went inside and called the police. The phone was patched straight through to the officers on duty who informed her they were right outside her place. The man managed to get over the fence again by climbing up on the trampoline and over. Right into the arms of the law!!! They quickly covered him up with a blanket and cuffed him and took him away! Needless to say the son needed a couple of bourbons and my friend had a coffee and a panadol after that episode!! The rest of their Chrissy was uneventful Cheers, Wendy

Just had to help a little one out, been sitting in the same position for hours and the membrane had dried. Just needed a little bit for it to get itself out completly. I did add some water to the membrane so it is a bit wet but it looks like a silver colour. Steph when I candled last I had 10 out of 12, 2 quitters. All where fertile and I am not complaining at all. I have decided that I will not let the broody hens raise them as I do not want to lose any of this lot. I know lots of extra work but this lot so far are giving me colours I did not have.

The handraising is worth it, especially when you've got special colours Hows the new little silver one going? wendy, the BLWs are due 1st Jan. Its the QLD silkies and my own silkies that are due tomorrow. I candled the BLWs last night and once again it looks like I'm in for a disappointing outcome. It looks like I'm only going to get 1 hatch, possible 2 The rest had air bubbles, were infertile or just started to develop then quit. So now I have to cross my fingers and toes that its a blue laced chickie and for once I want it to be a cockerel lol. At least that way I can then put it with either GL or SL hens. But we'll see, theres a 2 in 4 chance that it will be blue laced as the breeder said they will throw blue laced gold, blue laced silver, gold laced and silver laced.

lol....just checked the little one and it has its head on the hygrometer like it was trying to read it. Looked very funny. It is still very damp and sleepy, so it will probably spend the night in the bator. A couple of more eggs are starting to peep, looks like we are going to have a good hatch again. YIPPEE!!!!
