finally after what seemed like a VERY long 21 days! our first little chicks have started to hatch! ;D so far i have one Houdan and another not far away from hatching and three Araucana's doing a pretty good job too! was amazing to watch my 3year old son thought it was great! even OH was glued to the incubator! although now when we get eggs to eat from our chooks my son is like i'm not eating that its going to hatch will post a pic of my Houd and keep you guys updated!!

congrats bubbachook i to am hanging for the piccies it always amazes me how they fit in the egg and you never get sick of watching them hatch amazing you know why they sleep straight after must be exhausting

i couldn't believe how big they were when they first stretched out of that little egg! i really like the Houdans, they are all extra cute now they are all fluffy and wandering around. i ended up with 2 Houdans and 6 Araucanas (3 white 3 lavender) so i think it was not too bad a hatch seen as i started with 12 of each but a couple of Houds were broken when they arrived and 3 weren't doing anything when i candled them. i will post some more pics tomorrow.
