:-/I have chicken pox or something!!... last batch of chicken ..approx 6 weeks old have festering sores on their eyes / beaks / cones.... out of the dozen i have here ... 6 have it... didn't kill them as am trying to treat them... as sprayed with purple / antibiotics & cover them & hospital box with coopex... yesterday... BUT REALLY NEED TO KNOW WHAT IT IS? ...& can i cure fix it?.. as don't want it to spread to rest of chooks / pigeons... ANY HELL APPRACTED.....

Sounds like fowl pox, carried by mossies they will get over it in a few weeks. Once they have had it they won't get it again.

Feather foot... will it kill them?... Should I kill them?.. is their a treatment?... spray?.... tablets?... what should I do?... What would you do?...

I have never lost a bird from fowl pox, they can look pretty crappy when it's at its worst but they get over it with time. I don't give them anything 3 or 4 weeks and the worst of it will be gone.

My dad used to put iodine on the sores to help them recover. I don't think it is preventable, unless you mozzie proof your place.

Yes it does sound like fowl pox only rarely does it kill them mostly it effects the comb and can cause scaring stopping that bird being shown

Have four with it... killed a few as they where so bad... the four that remain... I think they will come good... as it's a slow program...but they seem happy & it all drying out.... so hope they are... will keep you updated....

That's good news giantrunt. I've had some sort of respiratory disease go through here that's knocked off a few including a Dorking rooster but we seem to be over it now
