Hi guys, I havent got anything to enter yet! I only just convinced my OH to let me have poultry again!! when I lived on the farm had lots of chooks but since in town havent had any The kids a very excited about getting the ducks and chooks, they are 2, 4, 12 & 14yrs. Hope to get them some responsibility and have that lovely experience with poultry I had when growing up. its special. I had a brown bantam I used to cart around in my dolls pram and dressed her up in dolls clothes!LOL One day I gave it a bath in cold water! Mum freaked!! It nearly died from Pneumonia or something. Mum had it tucked up in their bed with electric blanket and hot water bottles etc. She survived though!! Hopefully kids wont do anything like that! Wow, got off thrack their hey?? maybe next year or the year after I will have some beauties to put in the show! Lets hope. It is going to be another major passion like my kids and gardening (to keep my mind OFF the job at work!) I just wanna stay home and play lol Love to catch up with anybody coming to Busso show! Just message me and I'll give you my number. Cheers, Wendy.

Your chicken story from when you were a child reminded me of what my oldest daughter used to do to our rooster when she was about 7yrs old, she is now 38 and we still tease her about it.The roosters name was Henry, of what breeding I cant remember cos at stage I was only interested in chooks that laid eggs not of their breeding. She used to tie a rope to his leg so she could take him for walks and he loved it, he used to walk along side her bokking away, but she would not leave him behind when she went to school so he used to have to go too and off they would go, her school bag in 1 hand and Henrys lead in the other, and when they got to school he stayed in the classroom next to the teachers desk on his newspaper and then they would toddle of home again at the end of the day. I really do take my hat off to teachers, the things they put up with.

Yes Wendy, if you were in my classroom I would certainly welcome it. I encourage my students to bring in and talk about their pets no matter what they are. We have even had a pet snake. I try not to let the dogs come in at the same time the cats do though. We have chooks at school which the kids look after and we have even recued and hand raised orphaned wattle birds.

wow thats great! My sons kindy teacher loves people to bring in their animals for visits so the kids can see them. theyve had puppies, kittens even a joey. We took in our electric blue yabbie for the day. When I get the ducks/chooks I want I will take in for a quick visit if they have the temprement. I remeber when I was at kindy someone brought in ducklings and we had them swimming in a half tractor tyre. So cute.
