Although they weren't due to hatch until the 26th one pipped at around 2am on the 25th then another pipped during the late morning also on the 25th. I then had one hatch around 7pm the same day the two pipped eggs showed no sign of progress, when I turned in at 10pm nothing had changed. I lay in bed thinking this is going to be a crap hatch, anyway by the morning there were a lot of chicks and a few eggs to go all but three had hatched by midday and I thought that's it, one of the remaining three hatched mid afternoon and the remaining two were early evening. When it's all said and done they took less than 24 hours on the correct day so I think the incubator is calibrated to the correct temperature.

The problem with MOST PEOPLE!!... they can't help themselves!!... From when you hear your first chick.... DON'T TOUCH. THEM!... OPEN for a least 24 hrs...... or you'll destroy the hole process!!!... fact!.... it the secret to hatching high %.... (my opinion only).. as not a Guru ....:-) :-)

Yes I agree, that is why it is handy to have an incubator that allows you to see all that is going on without having to open it up.

I bought 7 Australorp eggs and put in 11 of my Australorp x eggs. All of the 7 and 9 of my eggs hatched but 2 of mine died so I ended up with 7 pure and 7 x breds in the brooder box not bad I reckon

I've got 22 Standard Silver Grey Dorking eggs from VIC in the incubator at the moment but it's only day 2 and a half so I've got awhile to wait yet
