These are my second lot of silkie babies, but my first blue and splash. The blue is the darker and the splash the off white, silvery colour. Hope at least one splash is going to be a rooster. This pic shows my other new additions. The 2 larger ones are partridge silkies that I hatched out from our chooks and the others are white leghorns, gold laced wyandottes and silver laced wyandottes. H7 do you nkow how to sex the wyandottes at a few days old??? Any comments are more than welcome.

My Granddaughter wants your babies and she is very sad that she can't have them, especially the splash and blue. She has great taste. Did you breed the blue and splash yourself or did you buy eggs. Also wondering do blue breed blue or do you continually have to cross a splash with a black.

No splash and black make blue. But the splash also look gorgeous so will be breeding them as well. In 5 months I will hopefully have eggs for sale and then chicks. I dont ahve any chicks for sale at the moment. I will have some hatching on Monday that will be partridge x white in colour if you want week olds Granny. Fluffychook, have been searching for eggs for at least 6mths and these were the only ones I found. They had a spare doz they were selling. I have asked so many breeders of blues to sell their eggs and they all refused and especially to post to WA.

Hi steph, The second picture shows 2 silkie chicks at 3 1/2 weeks old. One is quite creamy the other a grey, so can get any mix of colours. Will sell at a week old and they will be $10ea. 6-8 week olds $20. That is of the white x partridge ones. Send me a pm if you are interested.

Hi Farmchooks, I have heard of several ways that you could try to sex the chicks, supposedly if you waft something over the brooder, the roosters will stand upright and challenge it, the girls hunch down, feather sexing whch worse luck changes a bit with each breed and females legs are supposedly shorter and finer that the males or you could try my way, stand them carefully on your hand and gently stroke their back, look them straight in the eye and say " are you a girl" the only trouble is they all say "yes mum I am a girl" but I have found that quite a few lie. ;D I hate to say but the only definite way of sexing them is to wait until they are older.

I think you are going to have a long list of buyers for the blue. It would be fantastic if you could be able to sell to us chook fanatics.

Fluffychook, I will be more than happy to sell them to people who i know will really look after and spoil them. As long as you are prepared to wait a little while for them to grow up into big chooks and start laying. I will let those who have shown an interest know when some are coming up for sale.Have no idea what price I would put on them yet. Any suggestions?

I think most people that know a bit about silkies would be quite happy to pay a little more for them than your average colours. Personally, i reckon that if your going rate for week olds is $10 then i'd be happy to pay $20 even a lil more for blue week olds and perhaps 6-8 wk olds @ $30-$35. Just my thoughts anyways
