Today is day 18 for my eggs in the incubator. So shortly out goes the auto turner. I have 5 eggs that when I candled 2 days ago where fine. So out of the original 10 four where infertile and one died.
I am a bit concerned about the humidity though as we have battled and failed to keep it down for most of the incubation. We put water in once. I took the hygrometer out and checked the room and the room's humidity is high so there was little I could do.
So it is going to be a nervous few days to see if all goes well

Just took out the auto turner and candled the eggs, 4 definate and 1 not sure, might have been sleeping or too cramped to move. Time will tell

Good luck with your chicks. Mine are due to hatch on Wednesday. We started with 12, 2 were infertile and we have 10 viable so fingers crossed. WOuld love to see pics when they hatch. What breeds will you have when they hatch?

Oh so exciting!!! I have read on the BYP forum that it's always better to have too much humidity than not enough, so you might be ok Maybe next time change rooms to see if you do better.

I have our incubators in the lounge room where the fire is during the winter and I usually have good hatch rates, the only time I didn't was when the daughter and grand daughter was down and we dont have a fire guard so didnt have the fire lit for 2 weeks only the electric heater and out of 40 odd eggs only 3 hatched. So I presume the problem was the humidity level in the room as when they left the fire was lit again and we were back to good hatch rates again. so possibly next time as squeak suggests try a different spot and see how you go,

Would you believe it, now the humidity is down to 60%. Unfortunately I don't trust my grandson so at this stage its that room or in the shed. We are thinking of showing him the hatch so he will know that the incubator is there and work on educating him 'NO TOUCHING'. We have been leaving the door open in that room to when Jayden is not here, so I think the humidity problem is the whole house. Oh well, it is only the first batch and they say it is all trial and error to start with. Next batch is due next week, out of 14 nine where fertile.

Today is hatch day, yesterday we noticed one of the eggs 'wiggling' and I am unsure if it is the incubator but we could sometimes hear a rythmical tap every now and then. This morning the same egg 'wiggled' again, hopefully more will happen today

Just heard a "cheep", how long does it take for them to start cracking through the shell?
Do they start moving at day 17?
I didn't look until my daughter said they moved yesterday arvo. I will certainly keep a look out on the next batch.

Not sure when they are meant to move, but I have seen 3 of my 10 move. I would say if you have heard a cheep then their beak is in the air sac so probably within the next 24 hrs they should have hatched.

Yay! well the silky eggs i had hatched on day 22 while the pekin's hatched on day 20 and 21. So it could be anytime!
On day 20 i heard a cheeping, then within 8 hours i had a small hole and then within an hour it was out! But then i had another with a hole and it didnt hatch for hours!

We have a chip found about 3.20pm. No development since then, probably sleeping. My daughter was talking to them and she said they moved, sounds good to me
