I have hatched babies from my incubator and every now and then I get one with a wonky leg. I normally cull these as they don't get to the feeder and waterer very well and get skinny etc etc.
Anyway, my last batch from the incubator left me with another wonky leg one. I have not culled her (I think its a hen) as she gets around just as good as the others and I have seen her push her way in to get the food and water. She is the same size as the others and although probably only half as active she is thriving.
I have called her Hoppy.
My concern is, have I done her a favour by keeping her alive. She certainly doesn't look like she is in pain or uncomfortable. Her toes move about and she can grab my finger with them, but I don't think she will be able to perch.
Any thoughts anyone?

I'd be wondering where the wonky leg comes from, for a start. Is it possibly in inherited thing from one of your hens? As for keeping it alive, I would, until I saw it was in pain, or being attacked by the other, stronger hens. If it can survive why not let it.

We had a chick with turned in feet and she lived for 7 years, she just learned to cope and it didn't phase her one bit. And she was the easiest one to track at broody time because of her weird footprints. Good luck!
