My pekin bantams will be going onto layer pellets soon. Will they eat the big pellets like my big chooks or do they need crumbles?
And what age do pekins usually start to lay. 2 of the 3 combs are redder than the other.

I have NO idea what age pekins will start to lay, but, I think you should try them with the layer pellets if that's what you normally buy. I have seen VERY small chooks chuck down some VERY big food! I, personally, don't think they'll have a problem!

i find my pekins prefer layer crumbles, they like the smaller size food.

I think I'll get them the crumble. I've got a couple of spare bins to store food in so keeping it dry won't be a problem.

I actually mix the two together so you can see then if they eat the big pellets or just eat the crumbles. If they eat everything then you know they can eat the big stuff...
